Through the Eyes of a Haraya Partner: iManila Digital Marketing Agency

The pandemic that took the entire world by storm has led many companies, including ourselves, to finally look into digital not just for our coaching sessions but in the ways we expanded our client base versus relying on traditional word-of-mouth.

One such company that helped us on our journey to digital is iManila, a full service website development and digital marketing agency in the Philippines with over 24 years of helping once-traditional companies like Haraya to move online.

Although it seems that iManila’s services are on point during the pandemic and even though they call themselves fortunate to have been able to move their operations online and work throughout the pandemic, it was inevitable for many employees, including the top management, to feel difficulties in adjusting to life at home as well as the struggles of managing work life and personal life in their own individual spaces.

Given these challenges, the Haraya team proposed to conduct a Ka-Lingap Program that they felt would help give everyone from iManila gain confidence, self-purpose, empathy and to reach their full potential despite the pandemic.

We at Haraya, take pride in designing and providing relevant programs best suited for a diverse set of people, at every phase of their transformation – from sustainable learning programs, robust leadership development practices to team and culture dynamics approaches. Let us walk you through what transpired during our Ka-Lingap Teambuilding session.

We asked Mr. Robert Deluria, President and CEO of iManila on his personal experience on the session he said that, “It was perfect timing, with all the positive impact on my personal life and that of the management team it was decided that we will also cascade the benefits of the Haraya “way” to the other people in iManila. This is where the Ka-Lingap program came into the picture. This program was meant to allow the other members of iManila to benefit and be able to not only survive the pandemic but to “grow” in the new normal. This is especially meaningful to me since this allowed me to personally connect with members of the team during the sessions. To hear them and share with them. To be “normal” again even for just a few hours. I just hope that everyone who joined was improved by the experience as I had been.

Personally, the coaching sessions with my Life Coaches Jackie and TJ helped me handle the stressful situation during the pandemic. The sessions allowed me to answer questions that were bothering me especially about the future of the company and how to plan for the uncertain future. I realized that although I may not be able to control what is happening around me and the future, I was still in control of myself and how I act towards the stressful environment. I was able to make “baby steps” in the right direction and eventually regain focus on moving forward. I was also able to challenge myself to have a healthy lifestyle and consistently nurture my mind, body and spirit to be strong and resilient. I was able to do a routine of prayer, exercise, learning, working and living life to the fullest every day.

In the end, I am very thankful to the Haraya team for all their patience and expertise in helping iManila through these uncertain times.”

The whole iManila team had an interesting time throughout all of the sessions. During each of the sessions, the team talked about their struggles and how each has been able to adapt to change. Members of the team shared their individual experiences and were able to connect to each other after months of being isolated at their own homes.

“It’s a wonderful experience to know the habits for the agile brain. It’s also a revalidation of what area I should improve and work on. Also it’s a review for me on how I should face this pandemic period and also be on a right mindset and attitude towards it.”, shared by Mr. Arnold Del Mundo, Sr. Manager for Finance and Admin.

“Although we are in the same storm, our experiences vary. How we go through the storm depends on our inner strength – be it faith, mindset or our inner compass. We hear others’ struggles and realizations and somehow find a reason to thank God.”, added by Ms. Lea T. Recomite, the Chief Finance Officer of iManila.

Having to conduct coaching sessions and team building through online spaces may be different but regardless of the lack of face-to-face interaction, many have found it to still be as helpful and as life-changing. What started out as an opportunity to offer assistance evolved into a distinct approach and a clearer reflection for the whole team of iManila.

We’re so happy to have been able to help a team that has patiently helped us understand and move our business online and to our very own digital space.

Whether you are a team, an organization, or an individual person thinking of what might be the next best step in the right direction, our coaches have the heart, breadth and depth of experience to determine what it would take to reach not only your intended outcomes, but to go beyond what you thought is always possible!

Coaching at its heart is about inspiring people to reach their fullest potential and that is what Haraya aims to do with every session and every project. With Haraya, we believe you can. Learn more about us and visit our website at www.harayacoaching.com.

How to Manage Stress during the Coronavirus Pandemic

It has been months since our normal routine took a sudden change all because of an unseen enemy. Coronavirus has affected all the lives of everyone who are constantly striving themselves in their everyday work – that leads them to anxiety, confusion and negativity.

For someone who’s doing the same routine before the pandemic starts, it’s a lot to take in and accept the fact that we are now moving in slow phase and living the new normal as positively looking as possible.

Now that we are bringing the office problems at our homes, learn how to balance taking the stress of both work and home problems. Keep in mind that everyone has their different ways of coping up and we must respect them.

In this blog, we laid out some tips that you can apply. Might work on your but not on some. But it’s better to try than doing nothing.

Be dressed like going to work

Working in pajamas really makes your day comfy and less time to prepare but you should not take it in your way to work, or I should say on your way to your home desk. Try dressing up like you’re going to work – means that you’re signaling your mind and body that they need to shift to work mode. Who knows, it’s the opportunity to wear your clothes you haven’t worn for months’ time.

Reduce your distractions

Just like at the office set-up, have your phones set aside when working at home. As much as possible put your phone on airplane mode to avoid notifications from your apps. And speaking of apps, try removing some that took so much of your phone memory space.

Another way to reduce distractions is to avoid working in front of a television as this can be an essential part of reducing stress. A tip from us, you can listen to music while working as this will help your mind to focus on your daily tasks – but make sure those songs are suitable to your eardrums.

Provide scheduled breaks

Of course, you don’t have to face your screen for eight hours straight. For health reasons, your eyes should take a break once in a while. Setting an alarm for breaks would be best not only for your eyes but also for your body. Have some stretches and get some fresh air during your breaks.

You can plan from mini breaks to longer hours. Because you’re only at home, walking away from work actually increases productivity, as long as you don’t linger too much and back again.

Attend training sessions

Attending training sessions even in video set up can also enhance your skills and master your field in the long run. By working smarter, you get to refresh your memory and skills to be able to become an expert on what you want to be.

Just like our training sessions at Haraya Coaching, we provide full support and full knowledge to teach to become well aware and be an advocate of self-awareness. Cariz Peregrino says “Haraya sessions were a breath of fresh air. While the sessions comprise just a small percentage of our whole onboarding process, these were matters that gave value to the often-overlooked aspects of one’s self. These were essential in promoting the welfare of our volunteers.”

Prioritize sleep

No doubt, sleep is very important. You may be working from home and self-isolation and might stay up late for binge-watching, but proper sleep is a must. A good hygiene sleep consists of a minimum of eight hours per night. Part of time management if dedicating some time for sleep as it readies your mind and body to perform well the next day.

Don’t forget to reward yourself

Surviving this long in a time of pandemic is actually a reward in itself. You surpass all the stress and anxiety while keeping your distance and resisting temptations to enjoy the outside environment. In terms of working from home, you can have mini rewards for having a good job doing the tasks on time as it serves a big motivation to work harder and smarter.

You can also treat yourself to some sweets and watching your favorite show, but not binge-watching. At this time, you should adapt to your everyday routine and navigate your movements as easy as you can be. Reward yourself once in a while.

In this time of pandemic and endless what ifs, it’s difficult to turn to someone for frustrations and words of advice. We draw strength to someone who will listen and accept your flaws and all. We at Haraya Coaching, we are here to be leaned on for your setbacks and guide your bounce back feeling good, resilient, and healthy. We are here to cope up with your surroundings and our surroundings. Want your thoughts to be heard? Write to us at team@harayacoaching.com or visit us at http://harayacoaching.com/connect-with-us/

A chapter in your life is not your whole life, this will give you a sense of control on what you should do during this helpless situation. This pandemic situation can be difficult but we can adjust our expectations to cope up with the current chapter of our lives.

Respond instead of react

Accept the things that you can change during these new normal and avoid reacting to the situations that is beyond your control. Try to find positivity in life’s challenges and make the best of it. For instance, during this new normal you may not be able to operate your business in compliance with the government try to explore new things by making your business active online. This will give you the opportunity discover new things. Try to sweeten up sour situations by responding instead of reacting.

Choose Gratitude

You may find it difficult to adjust to the new normal, but always try to focus on the positive sides of your life, by focusing on the brighter side you can overcome the negativity that can destroy you. Make it a daily habit to practice compassionate heart that chooses gratitude. You can pray, meditate and speak your gratitude to your loved ones.

Practice self-care

If you feel down mentally and physically. You cannot avoid struggles in your life, but you can handle the struggle by engaging in self-care. You may try sleeping properly, mindful eating, exercise and meditating. Avoid negativity and separate yourself from anything that drains your energy. Don’t ignore your health because no one will look after you but yourself. Always try to be the best version of yourself every day.

These are some helpful tips to help you adjust this new normal, keep in mind that change is part of life whether you like or hate it you should accept change. Keep in mind that you are not alone in this situation. If you are having trouble adjusting to the new normal reach out for help.

From Finding Her Voice to Igniting Purpose in Others

For several days in October 2020, social media pages within the coaching community of the Philippines were lit up with congratulatory messages when International Coaching Federation announced the newest Master Certified Coach in the country – Cecilia Schrijver. She also happened to be the youngest and the first female to have done so, making the achievement extraordinary.

To achieve Master Certified level, a Professional Certified Coach must clock at least 2,500 hours. To illustrate what that amount of work and commitment could look like, think of spending half of your every weekday continuously for over 31 months. And because coaching means fulfilling globally recognized standards and distinct, observable skills, an accumulation of hours is only one component of the hurdle.   Performance evaluations and completing the Coach Knowledge Assessment also form part of the credentialing process. It is a journey that requires commitment to stay the course, while having the openness of mind and spirit to learn and be taught, to experiment and to fail, all layered on what may already be a life pursuing previously held goals.

Cecilia Schrijver has gone through all that and still finds herself giddy, exhilarated, and humbled having spent the last ten years on this transformation. While the MCC credential is the proverbial feather-in-your-cap moment, the journey that led her to being a master coach was intended not for the credential but for the experience that came with and continues to come with it.

From being silent and dealing with trepidation to speak up, she literally found her voice. Cecilia has responded to the many calls of the universe, from participating in a leadership program while still living and working in the UK, to signing up for coach training and acknowledging what she has been “called forth”.  She went back to her mother’s roots in the Philippines and found kindred spirits who like her, believed in making transformational coaching accessible to Filipinos and valued mission-based partnerships, whether with individuals or organizations.  These days, her voice is an instrument to having meaningful and life-changing conversations with her clients.

Cecilia’s turning point in heeding the coaching call was when she made decision to devote time and attention to her personal development.  She realized she had something of value to give, and desired “to help people in hiding and to feel liberation”. She knows what it feels like to be in hiding, and as a coach she offers space for her clients to access who they are and what they want to create.  Coaching conversations with Cecilia ignite what you have and what else you want to achieve.  Through all that, she feels deep gratitude and honor to be able to witness clients find their “aliveness” and love themselves a little bit or a whole lot more.

Cecilia is more steadfast than ever in her purpose and recognizes that coaches need to keep learning and keep challenging themselves. She reminds herself that she can take her clients only as far as she’s gone.  MCC credential is Coach Cecilia living by her commitment to self-development, to challenging herself and keep working with clients grow to fulfill what they set out for themselves.

For those contemplating on being a coach, Cecilia stresses beginning with having a real curiosity and genuine interest in learning and igniting that in other people.  It’s having a desire to help people meet their purpose and let their own learning emerge. Being a coach also means holding yourself accountable to learning the skill and honoring the coaching process for the value it brings. And then step back to relish your clients’ journey  unfold before you.

Realizing that “Coaching is a gift that keeps on giving” may sound like a denouement to Cecilia’s story, but really it only leads to more curiosity to experience transformational coaching and discovering one’s voice and purpose.

Learn more about Cecilia and her story through this video where you can also find her message to all aspiring coaches.

How to Manage Stress during the Coronavirus Pandemic

It has been months since our normal routine took a sudden change all because of an unseen enemy. The Coronavirus has affected everyone and has caused a lot to experience anxiety, confusion and negativity.

For someone who was doing the same routine before the pandemic, it’s a lot to take in and accept the fact that we are now moving in slow phases and living the new normal as positively as we can.

As we bring what once were office problems to our own homes, we are all learning to balance a new kind of stress of not just being stuck in our homes, but also of having to deal with all of the problems life brings all in one place, while also respecting others’ space and the way they cope with the situation.

Here in this blog, we’ll share some tips on how you can manage stress throughout the ongoing pandemic.

Dress like you’re actually going to work

Working in pajamas may make you feel more comfortable and may save you time in preparing before starting work on your home desk. Although working from home has its conveniences, every now and then and especially when you’re feeling tired and restless, try dressing up like you’re going to work. Dressing up appropriately even though you’ll just be working remotely gives your mind and body the signal it needs to shift to “work mode”. At the same time, getting in your work clothes gives you the opportunity to wear some clothes that haven’t been taken out of your closet in months.

Reduce your distractions

Similar to an office setup, have your phone set aside when working from home. As much as possible, keep your phone notifications on silent to avoid distractions. Try deleting some apps that are no longer of use to you. This also helps in saving some storage space on your phone.

And just like in any workplace, turn off the television to help you focus on the task at hand. Listening to music can be beneficial to some as it helps them relax, but the most important is to listen to your body and what makes your mind attuned to what needs to be accomplished. If the music is distracting you or the view of your bed is making you feel sleepy, try moving to a different part of the house to find the best place for you to work at that very moment.

Provide scheduled breaks

Of course, you don’t have to face your screen for eight hours straight. For health reasons, your eyes should take a break once in a while. Setting an alarm for breaks would be best not only for your eyes but also for your body. Do some body stretches and get some fresh air during your breaks.

You can plan mini breaks to breaks which can take over an hour. Because you’re at home, walking away from work may actually increase productivity, for as long as you don’t linger too much and can get back on track again.

Attend training sessions

Attending training sessions even in video set up can also enhance your skills and master your field in the long run. By working smarter, you get to refresh your memory and skills to be able to become an expert on what you want to be.

Just like our training sessions at Haraya Coaching, we provide full support and full knowledge to teach you to become well aware and be an advocate of self-awareness.

You may be working from home in self-isolation and might end up sleeping late to binge-watch or work on your personal hobbies – but remember that proper sleep is a must. Good sleep consists of a minimum of eight hours per night. Part of time management if dedicating some time for sleep as it readies your mind and body to perform better the next day.

Don’t forget to reward yourself

Having survived this long through this pandemic is actually a reward in itself. You’ve gotten this far and have surpassed all the stress and anxiety while keeping your distance and resisting temptations to enjoy the outside environment. In terms of working from home, give yourself some mini rewards for finishing your tasks on time and for being able to adjust and work smarter in your new work environment.

One way you can also reward yourself is through sweets or by watching one episode of your favorite show in the middle of the day. If you feel you’ve already adapted to your new work routine everyday, reward yourself once in a while. This is no easy feat.

In this time of the pandemic with the endless what if’s, it’s difficult to turn to someone to share your frustrations and to get words of advice. Sometimes, we just need to draw strength from someone who will listen and accept our flaws for what they are. At Haraya Coaching, we’re here to listen and help you bounce back to feeling your true self. Do you need help bouncing back? Or maybe you just need someone to share your thoughts with? Haraya Coaching: Life Coaching 101

For many of us, there comes a time when we start to question ourselves and examine the kind of life that we are living and also envision what lies ahead.

As we grow up, we do figure out different things about life, but we are all still in the process of learning. The first step of life coaching starts with a person asking oneself with life-changing questions. Accepting and learning that you need to connect with people that can help you improve your present situation is a vital part of your life journey.

What is Life Coaching?

The goal of life coaching is to help people discover the path that they would want to walk on. Life coaches essentially help to tackle different areas of your life whether it be personal, professional, financial, relational – whatever it may be! Coaching helps guide people who don’t know how to start or even where to begin again.

What is a Life Coach?

A life coach is someone who will guide you every step of the way through your life journey. A life coach is a person that you can turn to when you need someone to explain things to you and make you understand almost every question that you have in mind.

We all know how important it is to have someone passionate and determined to help people rise above their challenges, meet strategic goals, fulfill their highest potential and see right through their best outcomes. That is precisely what a life coach could do for you.

Most of the time, we don’t even see our own strengths or know what is important to us until it is reflected back. A coach acts as a mirror, a partner, and an invaluable resource to help draw out what’s most meaningful to you, draw out your desired actions and hold you accountable to the path and commitment you set out for yourself.

Why consider life coaching?

The International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) defines life coaching as partnering with people in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

With the help of life coaching, you will be able to know who you are as a person even more and be able to build a stronger character and a positive mindset and outlook. Someone will be with you as you design your vision, measure your success, and map out a tangible plan to make it all happen.

How to Choose the Right Life Coach for You

I have learned a lot just by reading books, but having a life coach is different. It was a different perspective crafted for my current situation. After 6 sessions, I was used to being asked how my life is going and evaluating myself as a person who wants to achieve his goals.” – John Elris Villanueva, Haraya client.

Embarking on a life-changing journey is not one that happens many times in one’s life. No matter what stage in life you’re in, there is always that “something” that sets us back. Whether it’s getting that promotion you’ve always wanted or a roadblock stopping you from pursuing your life-long passion – whatever it may be – it’s always daunting to do this alone! For John, he simply wanted to improve his personal development as he felt burned out at work. With the burn out, he also felt that it was affecting his personal life and so he sought to look for someone to give him advice.

Thankfully, there are life coaches who are there to walk and guide you through every step of the way. Whatever situation you may find yourself in, hiring a life coach is most beneficial for a lot of people. However, the task of choosing the right life coach may be harder than anticipated. After all, you are going to be entrusting them a huge portion of yourselves, which in reality, is a scary idea for most people. Below we’ve outlined a quick guide to help you choose the right life coach that’s a perfect fit… for you!

How can a life coach help ME?

Life coaches can help you see things more objectively and help give you a clearer vision of where you want your life to go. They can help equip you with plans to help you reach your desired destination. Think of them as people who are tasked to guide you through the process of achieving your goals and dreams, and trust them to work with you and be your support along the way.

What do they do?

Speaking with a life coach generally involves being asked meaningful questions in being able to identify what it is that you really want in life. Depending on how the conversation goes, they may probe deeper and learn and discover more about the habits or beliefs that may be holding you back. It is here that they are able to build an action plan with real attainable steps for you to reach your destination. Think of them as your accountability partner – someone who will check on you from time to time to see your progress.

Finding the right Coach

Many coaches offer a free consultation, which is useful for you to familiarize yourself with who you’ll be talking to before you commit to any further sessions. Make the most out of your first session by asking your coach questions to see if they are a good fit for you. While consultations may differ, it is also the time for the coach to get to know you and what you want to achieve. It was in an orientation session about what a life coach is that John first met Coach Lea, experienced his first session, before he decided that he had come to the right place. Do not hesitate to speak to more than one coach to find one that best matches you. Here are some things to look out for when speaking to a coach for the first time:

Connection

It’s important for you to be comfortable with your life coach just like you’re talking to a friend, however, with professional boundaries. A good coach should be someone who is non-judgemental, a good listener, and is patient in encouraging you. Different people have different styles so it is vital to look for a coach who communicates in the style that suits you – who can present information in the way you understand the most.

Having great synergy with a coach means that you feel safe with him/her. You don’t feel like you’re clashing in terms of your beliefs or life outlooks. Besides feeling comfortable, check in to see if this is a person whom you feel can challenge you to grow as a person. Do they relate with your situation? Do they share similar values with you? Do they give you the confidence to take on your goal head on? Don’t hesitate to listen to your gut too when it comes to choosing your life coach. Sometimes your gut knows more than your head, so trust what it’s telling you.

Practices

Each person is going through something uniquely different whether it’s in drama-filled personal relationships, an obstacle in your career, or a cluttered way of organizing your life. Knowing what problem, you want to overcome will also help you in determining the specialty of the coach you will pick. Each coach has different specialties whether it’s in career, health, relationships, and more.

Do not be afraid to ask them what makes them an expert in their field. It is also important to know this as anyone can easily attach the word “expert” as their job title. A real expert has had experience in their field before whether they have held a position in a corporate job before, or it is their personal area of expertise.

If it helps, you can list things that are important to you in a coach as you conduct your search to help narrow down your options.

  • Are their age and gender important to you?
  • What kind of experiences do they need to have?
  • What methods and approaches do they use?
  • What are their character, skills, and abilities?

Knowledge and Skills

There are no legal restrictions on who gets to be called a life coach, however there are many training and educational programs and licensing organizations that serve to certify and regulate these coaches. This is mainly in ensuring that the coaching that they do is done professionally and ethically. But how important are their qualifications?

Truthfully, anyone can be a self-proclaimed life coach. But one quality common among them is that they love what they do and do it well. While having a PhD does not mean they are automatically the best, some have higher education and use this in increasing their ability to help others.

Someone who just gets you

The most important thing to look out for after is whether the coach is someone you can simply connect with. Life coaching is not rocket science and it is a personal matter — as you are willing to change the most important aspects of your life.

John gained a new perspective in his first session with Coach Lea that blew his mind away, giving him a new perspective on things. It was then he knew that he made the right decision. Just like John, the right life coach might just be waiting for you. If you’ve already embarked on your first step of wanting to get a life coach, look no further and maybe find the right coach waiting for you with Haraya Coaching. Reach not just your goals, but also unlock the best version of yourself. Learn how you can be your imaginable with Haraya.

When a business hits a roadblock and difficult decisions are required, one might think that the answers are found in levels of profitability, customer engagement, and rate of revenue. When Haraya Coaching works with business owners faced with some form of roadblock, the questions may yield different answers, and can possibly trace back to the individuals behind the business.

Haraya Coaching believes in empowering people through coaching, hence, establishing the individual’s awareness is vital to the coaching experience. Having touched 2410 lives and counting, the stories of empowerment, realized potential and awareness continue to unfold.

One such story comes from our partners, Pep Squad Events, whose owners sought out Haraya Coaching when their company hit a slump on the road. There were issues that led them to seriously think about closing the company after finishing off paying their loans.

Co-owner Marj, relates “I just had my second child and had challenges finding a reliable babysitter while my business partner took her masters in entrepreneurship. We were preoccupied with our own lives and just could not align for our company.”

Dead ended discussions had them seeking out Jackie (Haraya Coaching founder). Untypical of strategic business meetings, they met in what they referred to as “the most Tita of venues, Mary Grace in Greenbelt”. This time though, there was no dead end but a defining moment. “One meet-up and all Jackie said was, ‘I don’t see the conflict – you both want the same thing but saying so in different ways!”

After that defining meeting, they had more sessions with Haraya Coaches Lea and TJ. More realizations surfaced: “Haraya helped us prioritize what’s important for Pep Squad which also means letting go of opportunities that are not aligned with our goals” and “… that ego has no place in synergy”.

Pep Squad continues to create MICE activities and is one of the leading events companies that stages athletic activities and races. Their story is a testimony of what is possible with Haraya Coaching. Discover and unlock your potential, for you, your team, or organization. Take confident steps in the right direction. Experience coaching by Haraya. Learn how you can be your imaginable with Haraya Coaching.

“This actually happened by accident”, Jackie said. Just days before her birthday and weeks after the pandemic stormed out, she felt that something had to be done. The stress, anxiety, depression, and hopelessness that this health catastrophe has brought to everyone especially to our frontliners and all workers, had her wondering.

“As coaches, what can we do? How do we marry what is needed to what we can provide?”, she asked her team. Initially, she thought that maybe it’s enough to reach out to a few people and offer pro bono coaching to them. But then God had greater plans for her cause.

They started reaching out to their life coaching community. It was a surprise that over 50 coaches volunteered to join her in just a short notice. That, to her, was already a win in itself.

“That’s the coaching community that we want to have. Where it’s all about, “Let’s go, let’s help” and everybody would pitch in,” Jackie stated.

They helped unite the coaches and encouraged them to pitch in ideas. Hence, the birth of Unang Tugon. The ultimate objective of the cause is to bring light to workers in these dark times – a helpline for mental wellness made conveniently available whenever they are feeling distressed, burned out, or struggling with something.

In one of Jackie’s calls, an HR manager once told her that their old helpline is underutilized because their employees don’t want to seek psychological support. This has been an old undying mental health stigma that inhibits people to get help. This, in turn, makes life coaching a great option.

Life coaches give employees a less daunting environment where they can just speak up freely without any fear. In fact, they received over a dozen calls from the employees a month after launching. Now, more and more private companies are signing up for the service.

“This has given us the opportunity to support companies to make sure their employees have proactive support. We are able to coach people before they get to the verge of getting desperate,” Jackie said. “I’d like to believe that’s how we help,” she added.

How did Unang Tugon help the Amang Rodriguez Hospital’s health workers?

Over the past few months, we have seen how our front liners and other health workers have struggled to save lives even if it means risking to lose theirs. The Amang Rodriguez Hospital isn’t an exception.

Jackie’s friend working in the hospital said that they are greatly challenged, tired, understaffed, sick, and mentally unstable. With these emotions in mind, the Haraya team then opened up an online Unang Tugon for the health workers of the hospital so if in case they need help, they can just easily access the mental wellness support that they need.

Jackie has great hopes and plans for this cause. “If every coach knows that this is good, comes onboard and commits time, this will become a huge resource to be made available to more people,” Jackie said.

As what Pope Francis always says, among us, who are most capable must be in service of others. It doesn’t mean we have to wash away each other’s feet every day but we must help one another.

Jackie and her team are only few of the people who are actually willing to step out of their comfort zone and help as much as they can. You can be part of the team too. Shoot us a message if you’re interested to volunteer or if you’re in need of a life coach, we’d love to chat to find out just what you need!

Haraya Coaching - Life coach Philippines

Through the Eyes of a Haraya Partner: Sibol and Children’s Paradise Montessori School

“He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.” – Friedrich Nietzsche

For Jackie and a number of Haraya’s partners, helping others gain confidence, self-purpose, and empathy among others are just some of the things they love doing as life coaches.

Haraya has always been committed to helping others reach their fullest potential through coaching and the partners (coaches) are no stranger to that. Having a community development initiative has always been on the books for them and by asking themselves the question: “Who is it that we want to help?” it was no surprise that they took that same model and helped bring it to life in the education space as it was where they would bring the most value.

And that was how Sibol was born. Much like its name, meaning “growth” in Filipino, once you plant a seed it will grow into a sprout until it is firmly rooted. That is what Haraya’s Sibol initiative aims to do. With the right coaching, they can help bring change in education by helping students figure out their “why’s” as well as their dreams for the future.

Sibol: From humble beginnings

Even before the COVID-19 pandemic swept the world by storm, Sibol was already an idea that the partners and coaches had as a tool to help and contribute in the education sector. The plan was initially catered to the students, more specifically teens from high school all the way to college, and to provide them with life skills, confidence, purpose building, and empathy building. This was to be done live in the classroom and have the workshop coaches come.

Fast forward to today – in the midst of the pandemic – a lot of industries had to pivot to navigate its way through it and Sibol was no exception to this. With the challenge of going about things online, Jackie and the partner coaches also empathized with the challenges the teachers were facing. They realized this was an opportunity to help give the teachers the skills to contribute to a more positive and better experience to the students. Sibol was that solution aimed to empower teachers with its current partnership with some educational institutions and select schools.

The program is focused on three specific modules for now, namely: empathy and emotional intelligence (EQ), creating a purpose, and self-care. These modules would run for 90 minutes, done online where there would be follow through coaching with the teachers in between the sessions where they can better apply their learnings to real life.

One school’s purpose

Children’s Paradise Montessori School (CPMS) was one of the schools fortunate enough to have experienced Sibol firsthand. The owner of the school was excited about the idea of the program as she wanted to create a good environment for her school that was high on compassion and empathy. She wanted, not just the teachers, but also the staff to embody this culture that she had envisioned.

It was more than just having the skills or the right tools, but the mindset and heartset that will touch the students with each interaction. It was not just about teaching and imparting knowledge, but also about caring and nurturing them and becoming a part of the student’s journey.

For Jackie this is where the real value of Sibol lies: that they can help create a positive value in school that will affect the experience the students have with their teachers; and what the teachers learn will seep down to their students as a good example. Jackie recalls a story at Children’s Paradise where they were talking about their purpose as teachers. When the teachers were reading their purpose statements, they really went beyond themselves with passion about why they wanted to teach in the first place. It’s this same passion that they envision Sibol will bring to each teacher and student alike.

A vision for tomorrow

When asked about the kind of vision Jackie has for Sibol, she says that getting the same kind of partnership with CPMS was something she wished could be applied to as many schools in the Philippines. To go further and be partnered or endorsed by educational institutions will be a great deal of help in furthering the impact of Sibol. A “Ka-Haraya” in every school in the country including public schools and making coaching available at that level will be a great deal of help moving forward most especially as teachers have such an important touchpoint in every student’s life.

Coaching at its heart is about inspiring people to reach their fullest potential and that is what Haraya aims to do with every session and every project. With Haraya, we believe you can. Learn more about what Haraya does in our website.
